Our new 'house'

After our few days in Vancouver buying our van and getting it set up, we now have a GMC Safari all-wheel drive van that has become our home for the next month! It has a futon couch/bed in the back so that it can be used as a seat during the day, and laid down at night to sleep on. We have managed to fit all of our stuff in it including Justin’s bike, and after a week on the road we have got it all pretty sorted with everything in it’s own place. So far we are really enjoying sleeping in it – although ask us in another few weeks and it might be a different story!

It is just a regular sized van (well regular American sized anyway – as with most American things, that tends to be larger than down under sizes!), but we have kind of three layers in the back so that we can fit everything. We bought some big shallow storage containers which fit under the bed, so most of our cooking stuff, food and clothes go under there, and Justin rigged up a mesh fishing net kind of thing from the roof, so our every day clothes hang there at the foot of the bed. And our ice chest/chilli bin/esky/whatever else you want to call it sits in between the driver’s and passenger’s seats – perfect for easy snacking access!
